Welcome to 2021

“2020…what a year it has been.
We have all grown closer but had to keep our distance. Supported each other and had to find ways to support ourselves, made great achievements and not so great ones. We have had our plans cancelled and plans go ahead, had to educate others and be educated ourselves! Some have lost loved ones and others have gained new loved ones. My heart sends love to you all.
Let’s take some of the lessons we have learnt into 2021 and beyond!! Living and working in new ways like never before.
Super grateful for my blessings and for everyone around me. Wishing you all a wonderful, healthy and safe New Year”
Nafisa Jeewanjee Gilkes

I would like to begin 2021 by expressing my sincerest and heartfelt gratitude to all of you who have supported me throughout the uncertainty of 2020. It was a tough year for so many and I know that I have been very lucky during this time.

Thank you for joining me online, for reviewing the classes, opening my emails and commenting and engaging with my posts. Thank you too to those of you who are still patiently waiting for the day when we can see each other again for face to face yoga classes, and for when you can enjoy your regular massage treatments. You have helped keep our yoga community thriving. I am very grateful and truly humbled by your support.

This New Year may be very different as we continue to follow guidance to keep us all safe, well and healthy. We will need to continue to dig deep to find ways to help us to stay positive and motivated, to stay connected to others in our separation and find calm and inner peace to carry us through the next few months.

I will continue to plan and offer yoga classes and workshops online and when permitted in person. I also look forward to teaching at some yoga retreats and holidays later in the year. Never has it been more important to take care of mind, body and spirit and I hope that in small and steady ways our regular practise of yoga will help with this.

Wherever you are and whomever you are with at the start of this New Year, I hope that you are safe, happy and well. I started this newsletter with a lovely message I read recently posted by my daughter that feels so relevant and succinct, and for me encapsulates the year 2020. And as she says, “Let’s take some of the lessons we have learnt into 2021 and beyond!!”

I wish you love and patience, good health and happiness in 2021.
