The Hawaiian Healing Garden – Experiencing Lomilomi Massage in Paradise.

The Hawaii Healing Garden festival is a celebration of the diverse healing arts available on the beautiful Hawaiian Islands. I was fortunate enough to attend the Hawaii Healing Garden on the beautiful island of O’ahu, as a volunteer for the day, and to participate in the celebrations throughout the day, watching the many demonstrations, attend lectures and networking with many therapists and healing art practitioners who had come to share their knowledge and expertise.
The drive to the festival was a healing journey in itself, driving along the coastal road to the North Shore of the island was a healing journey in itself with the Pacific Ocean, in all its shades of blue and turquoise to one side, to the Ko’aloa mountain range, visible throughout the drive. The festival was held in an even more spectacular environment, Waimea Valley, with its lush tropical rainforest, flora and fauna. How can anyone not be healed in an environment of such great beauty? The sun shone all day, with sporadic soft, warm, tropical rain, as we sat on bamboo mats under a tree and listened to lectures and watched demonstrations. I had the opportunity to meet many other complementary therapy practitioners, met and talked to Organic Herbalists, Artists and chefs of pure organic food. One of the many highlights of this trip was also having the opportunity to teach some yoga. How perfect to practice the sun salutation surrounded by white ginger plants, palms, black volcanic rock to the sound of the ocean!
My visit to Hawaii gave me numerous opportunities to network with many people some of who are involved in the healing arts. I received some one to one training in Hawaiian Lomilomi massage, with a native Hawaiian kumu (teacher) and practitioner. Noalani has learned her art through lineage, having being trained by her grandmother and aunt from an early age. This could not have been a better start to my Lomilomi experience and this will now enable me to incorporate what I have learned to enhance the experience that my future clients can expect to receive.
Above all this trip gave me the time to reconnect with the inspiring spirit of Aloha. On my first visit to Hawaii in 1999, I learned that Aloha was far more than a greeting. I was entranced by the “Live Aloha” spirit of the people I met, the breathtaking beauty of the mountains, the tropical forests and flowers of these magical islands.
Aloha embraces a whole philosophy of humility, of giving, loving and sharing that reflects beliefs and values I hold dear and wish to put into practice in the way I choose to work and what I offer my clients. This inspiring trip has given my work a new and creative dimension. I incorporate additional methods learned to enhance the healing experience for my clients. My treatments aim to facilitate a body-mind balance and promote an optimum balance of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
I look forward to offering you treatments that will alleviate aches and pains, accelerate the healing of physical injuries, promote your sense of wellbeing while reducing life’s stresses and tensions, and guide you toward your own unique vitality. Through powerful, but gentle and nurturing body-mind work I support your holistic health in the spirit of Aloha.
