Sunshine, Rain Storms and Celebrations

“Never judge a day by the weather”
Kimo: Hawaiian life rules to live by.

I love this saying from Kimo. One of several that I have come across on my travels to Hawaii. The weather really doesn’t determine the kind of day we are having – but it does seem to dominate our conversations, and even affect our mood at times. Understandably so when it is so unpredictable and changeable!

Summer seems to have gone in the blink of an eye. A short and intense heatwave and warm heavy rains. Remember those? I am so grateful to have a garden that has benefitted from both and at the height of August was a mass of lush shades of green and a riot of vibrant colours in bloom. I never tire of this view from my kitchen. Every morning I come down and throw open the doors to breathe in this scene, enjoying the views all day long.

This summer I took a break from live-streamed classes and although I had no plans for a holiday as such either in the UK or abroad, I had a busy time spending my break with family and friends. There was a family birthday barbeque to attend in Essex, the Civil Partnership of my very dear friends in Gloucestershire and a family wedding on the picturesque coast of North Somerset. These long-awaited beautiful, previously postponed celebrations of love were finally able to be held this summer. Fortunately, the sun shone down on these occasions allowing us to spend most of the day outdoors. August truly was the month of love and celebration.

We were also able to finally get together for some in-person group yoga with yoga in the park and two yoga day retreats. It was lovely to practise together once again, seeing how we can be safe but also together. A lovely time was had locally at Lydiard Park, Wasing in Berkshire and Avebury in Wiltshire.

With the arrival of September, I have been planning for the rest of the year. Thank you to all who participated in the survey that I sent out in the summer. This has been so helpful in finding out what you enjoy, what else you would like and how you like to experience your yoga!

Live-streamed online, recordings, in-person retreats, and new membership plans are all in the mix for the rest of 2021.

See you on the mat soon.
