Yoga & The Eight Limbs – Retreat Morning Sunday 26th September 2021

What are the eight limbs of yoga?  Where do they come from?  How can they help with the practice of yoga?

Many of us are introduced to the practice of yoga through movement – the poses. We consider the depth and breadth of yoga as asana, pranayama and relaxation. The yoga we do, when we step on our mats is only one aspect of a more extensive set of practices and philosophical teachings.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga provides us with teachings and guidance to live life more fully, as a compass for our lives.

The principles drawn from these ancient texts can strengthen our foundation as a yogi. When we understand some basic philosophical yogic principles, it can help us to embody the heart and soul of Yoga in our practice, in our learning and in our life.

In this morning retreat, we will learn what the 8 limbs are and explore these important principles of yoga philosophy. We will go beyond asana helping to strengthen the foundation of our practise. And the morning will also include a rounded practise of asana, pranayama and guided relaxation. A light lunch will be served.

Yoga & The Chakras – Day Retreat  Saturday 16th October 2021

What are the Chakras?  What is the significance of the Chakras? How can they help support our wellbeing?

Join me on a journey through the Chakra System, exploring their significance, emotional expression and the power that they can have on our physical and subtle body.

The 7 Chakras are the main psycho-energetic energy centres of the body according to yogic philosophy that allows us to align with matter and the material world, with the mental and emotional world as well as with the subtle world of spirit. These subtle energy centres when balanced help to coordinate the flow of prana or vital energy through our body and maintain physical health and emotional well-being.

On this retreat, we will learn what the Chakras are and explore how they can help to support our wellbeing. Through yoga asana practise, pranayama, meditation and Yoga Nidra, we will work through all 7 seven chakras helping us to feel balanced, centred and calm by the end of the day.

Time: 10.30 am – 4.30 pm
Location: Avebury Stone Circle, Avebury, Wiltshire,

Yoga & Meditation –  Morning Retreat  Saturday 13th November 2021

Meditation is a discipline used to reach a deeper state of awareness by observing the mind. It is a vital aspect of yoga dating back thousands of years that can help to create clarity, focus and inner tranquillity.

This yoga and meditation morning retreat will include yoga asana and pranayama practise with an introduction to meditation. Meditation, or Dhyana, the 7th limb of yoga according to yogic philosophy is the art of quieting and calming the mind. It has been practised for thousands of years and continues to grow in popularity today as people discover how it can bring mental and physical relaxation and support personal and spiritual development. The benefits of meditation emerge with time, practice, and consistency. In this retreat, we will learn the basics of meditation practice and theory. We will practise a variety of simple and effective techniques to help you begin a meditation practise or enhance your current practise from which you can grow and develop. If you haven’t already started to meditate or are anxious about how and where to start, this yoga morning may be just what you need to get started.
